New Delhi: Being Topper® has published two books by its founder, Vipin Khuttel, under its Being Topper Publications imprint: The Capability Shift: A Leader’s Framework for Moving from AI Adoption to AI Capability, and The Capable Campus: A Practical AI Plan for Indian Colleges and Universities. Both are on Google Play Books since 7 November 2026.

The books start from one observation. Many institutions in India have arranged access to AI: tools, licences, workshops, a circular. Far fewer can show what has changed in how they teach, decide or serve.

The question

Your institution bought AI. Has anything changed?

Two books, two readers

The Capability Shift

A Leader's Framework for Moving from AI Adoption to AI Capability

For leaders of colleges, companies and public bodies. It gives a precise way to see, measure and build AI capability.

  • Six frameworks, from a six-level maturity model (L0 Unaware to L5 Steward) to AI Impact Architecture and the AI Readiness Index.
  • Twelve linked tools, from an adoption–capability diagnostic to an accountability map for AI-assisted decisions.
  • One page: the capability profile canvas, which names an institution’s three priorities, their owners and the evidence of progress.
  • Composite cases from Indian campuses, workplaces and public bodies, and a closing chapter on India’s capability decade.

The Capable Campus

The Capable Campus

A Practical AI Plan for Indian Colleges and Universities

For vice-chancellors, principals, deans, IQAC coordinators and faculty-development teams. It turns AI on campus into a plan a governing body can approve, review and act on.

  • Twelve chapters in the order a campus works: where you stand across seven areas, what the rules say today (quoted with dates), an AI-use policy, assessment, student data, faculty and student capability.
  • A vendor-neutral partner checklist and a 90-day plan with honest indicators.
  • Twelve templates that add up to one page for the governing body.
  • Labelled composites, not named institutions.

Why access is not capability

India is moving quickly from asking whether to use AI to asking how. The harder question is what changes when people do. Licences and workshops give access. Capability shows up as better decisions, redesigned assessment, protected student data and clear ownership.

The two books give institutions a shared language and a way to show evidence of change. They treat AI as something that speeds up the work, with human judgment still leading it. They do not promise accreditation, ranking, placement or any other outcome. They promise a clearer way to decide.

AI speeds up the work. Human judgment leads it.

— The idea behind both books

What readers can expect

Leaders

A common model for talking about capability, and a one-page canvas to agree three priorities, their owners and the evidence.

Campuses

A plan in the order a campus works: policy, assessment, student data, faculty, partners and a 90-day schedule.

Institutions that want to compare themselves with themselves

Tools and templates that can be copied for internal use, so progress can be measured over time against the institution’s own starting point.

Public record

The frameworks behind The Capability Shift were exhibited and presented at the India AI Impact Summit & Expo 2026 (16–21 February 2026), Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Disclosure: Being Topper works with institutions and campuses on AI capability. Both books are written to be used on their own, and neither is a requirement for working with Being Topper.
